Avian Oasis: Hummingbird Spreading Wings

A sculptural textile series dedicated to hummingbirds, worked from real species rather than a stylised idea of a bird. Each design begins with observation: the colour palette is drawn from an actual bird's plumage, and the pose is held mid-flight, wings fully extended and tail raised. Ksenia shapes the body from silk, dyes the fabrics by hand and sets vintage beads alongside glass and sequins, so the piece catches light the way iridescent feathers do. The bird lifts out of its frame and can be worn as a brooch.
