An orchid worked in stumpwork so it stands off the panel in three dimensions, set against a ground built in Russian pearl setting. The whole surface is a demonstration of what happens when white cords, pearls and beads are allowed to carry a composition on their own, with no colour to lean on. It is one of the Tropical Garden panels, the series where Ksenia tests how far a heritage technique will stretch into contemporary work.
