Reviews Policy

Where our reviews come from

Every review on The Haud is written by someone who actually bought the piece, booked the workshop, or commissioned the work through the Platform. We invite a review after delivery, and only verified purchases can leave one. We do not buy reviews, import them from elsewhere, or write them ourselves.

What we ask of reviewers

Write honestly, about your own experience of the piece and the maker. Keep it civil, and leave out other people's personal information. A review is yours; nobody, including the maker and including us, should tell you what to say in it.

What is not allowed

The following have no place on The Haud, from anyone:

Fake reviews of any kind, including reviews of your own shop, reviews arranged with friends, family or other makers, and review swaps.

Incentivised reviews. Nobody may offer money, discounts, gifts or anything else in exchange for a review, for a better review, or for changing or removing one. A freely given review after an ordinary purchase is the only kind we accept.

Pressure in either direction: makers must not lean on buyers over a review, and buyers must not use a review, or the threat of one, to demand something a maker does not owe them.

How we keep reviews genuine

Reviews are gated to verified purchases, checked automatically for content safety, and read by a small team who know the makers and the work. Anyone can report a review to us at hello@thehaud.com. When a review is reported, a person looks at it, and we keep a record of what we removed and why.

What we remove, and what we never remove

We remove reviews that are fake or incentivised, abusive or discriminatory, contain personal information, are spam or plainly off-topic, or are unlawful. We do not remove a genuine review simply because it is negative, however much anyone would like us to. Our star ratings are calculated from all published reviews; we do not pick and choose.

If your review is removed

If we remove something you wrote and you think we got it wrong, email us at hello@thehaud.com and a person will look at it again.

Consequences

Manipulating reviews is grounds for removal from the Platform for makers, and account suspension for buyers. It is also against the law under the UK's consumer protection rules, which ban fake and concealed-incentive reviews outright.
