Natalie cut the block by hand and pulled the print from it, working in the manner of the blockbooks that circulated before movable type: the same bold outline, the same economy, the same willingness to let one line do all the work.
She made it for the screening of her own short film, The Dragons at Lindisfarne, and printed copies to sell on the night. It is an open edition, so it is not numbered.
Relief printing leaves the ink sitting on the surface of the sheet rather than sunk into it, which is why the black reads as properly black rather than grey. Keep it out of direct sunlight and away from damp.
