Vessels from Amser Maith yn Ol, the body of work Bethan showed at the Ceramic and Maker Masters show at Cardiff School of Art and Design in 2024. The title means a long time ago. The surfaces are carved and slip-decorated, then wood fired, which is what gives the flashing and the ash deposits down one side. No two come out of a wood kiln alike, and the placement in the kiln does as much to the finished surface as the decoration does.
