Salt-fired inlay tile

An inlaid tile salt fired at Wobage Farm in Upton Bishop in 2025. Salt is thrown into the kiln at temperature and vapourises, and the glaze forms on the surface of the clay itself rather than being brushed on beforehand. It gives a mottled, orange-peel skin that sits differently over an inlaid line than a poured glaze does, which is the reason for trying it.
