A set of three rainbow juggling balls, hand-spun from cotton and hand-stitched closed. Small enough to sit in a closed hand, weighted to throw cleanly.
Each ball is the same construction as Gem's leads, scaled down and reshaped: cotton fibre, hand-spun under controlled tension, finished to a particular firmness. Solid in the catch, forgiving in the drop. The hand-stitching is both the closing detail and the structural seam that holds the ball under constant low-grade impact.
The rainbow palette uses cotton strands across the full spectrum, so each ball reads as a different chord of the same family: bright but unfussy.
A practice set that is also a display piece. Sits comfortably on a shelf when not in flight.

Gem Bowes learned to make rope at Arthur Beale, the Shaftesbury Avenue chandlery that has been splicing line since 1500-something. She works now from a Cambridge studio, hand-spinning flax and dead-stock yarn for dog leads, doorstops, juggling balls.
