A taller wall hanging from Elyn's quilted series, sized at 106 cm including the hanging loops by 42 cm wide. The proportions sit between a banner and a small bed runner, which makes it useful above a bed, along a hallway, or as a soft vertical in a kitchen where you might otherwise hang a print.
The construction follows the same disciplined sequence as her other linen pieces. The blocks are machine-pieced for a clean line, then layered with cotton batting and hand-quilted through all three thicknesses. The binding is finished by hand.
Five-centimetre fabric loops are stitched along the top edge so the hanging can be slid onto a length of wooden dowel. The dowel is sold separately at most hardware shops and can be cut to width.

Elyn Middleton works from her living room in Sheffield, sewing patchwork quilts and wall hangings out of fine linen. The drawings on her sketchbook come from post-war architecture; the names she keeps coming back to are Anni Albers and Sophie Taeuber-Arp.
