Questions

Where can I buy hand embroidery in the UK?

The embroidery on The Haud is made in Britain by makers we have accepted individually, and each piece links to the profile of the person who made it. The product page says how it was stitched, and you can message the maker before you buy.

What is tambour embroidery?

Tambour embroidery uses a fine hook instead of a needle, pulling a chain stitch through fabric stretched tight on a frame. Lunéville embroidery is the couture form of it, worked from the back of the cloth to set beads and sequins. Some of the embroidery on The Haud is made this way, and the product page says when it is.

Can I commission a hand-embroidered piece?

Some of our embroiderers take commissions. Open the maker's profile and message them from their shop, or email hello@thehaud.com and we will introduce you.

How do I know these pieces are really handmade in Britain?

Every maker on The Haud applies and is reviewed individually before they can sell, and imports, mass production and resellers are not allowed. Each piece links to the profile of the person who made it, so you can see who they are and where they work before you buy. Payment is taken by Stripe. On UK orders you have at least 14 days from delivery to change your mind, except on personalised and commissioned pieces, and anything faulty or not as described is always covered.
