Questions
Where can I buy handmade wooden boxes and turned wood in the UK?
The Haud sells woodwork made by hand in Britain, from carving and turning to marquetry, and each piece links to the profile of the person who made it.
What is marquetry?
Marquetry builds a picture or pattern from thin veneers of different woods, cut and fitted together like a jigsaw and glued to a backing. The colours come from the woods themselves, not from paint or stain.
What is woodturning?
Woodturning shapes wood on a lathe: the wood spins and the turner cuts it with hand-held chisels and gouges. Bowls, vessels and spindles are all turned.
How do I know these pieces are really handmade in Britain?
Every maker on The Haud applies and is reviewed individually before they can sell, and imports, mass production and resellers are not allowed. Each piece links to the profile of the person who made it, so you can see who they are and where they work before you buy. Payment is taken by Stripe. On UK orders you have at least 14 days from delivery to change your mind, except on personalised and commissioned pieces, and anything faulty or not as described is always covered.
