A quarter fan of arcs opens from the bottom corner in green, blue and pink. Every band carries its own painted pattern of leaves, scales and dots, drawn freehand on the glass.

Made using traditional techniques, the pattern is painted and then fired in a kiln before being framed in lead, soldered together, cemented and polished. The whole process takes several days to complete.

It can stand on a sill or be hung from the copper hooks attached to the corners.

    Alandale Glass

Mary Corkery has made stained glass since 1996, in a workshop at the bottom of her garden near Harrow. She loves choosing the colours and textures of the glass before painting and firing it.

    • A dip pen and a pot of black glass paint resting on a paper cartoon, beside a painted fan-shaped piece of glass.
    • The inside of Mary Corkery's garden workshop, with open roof beams, workbenches and a plan chest of glass.
    • Shallow wooden drawers pulled open to show sheets of coloured glass sorted by colour.
    • Hand-drawn design cartoons for circular stained glass panels spread across a table with pencils and tools.
    • A part-built stained glass panel laid out on its paper cartoon on the workshop bench.
    • A stained glass panel lit from behind in the workshop window at night.
