A one-of-a-kind corset built on the structure of seventeenth-century Dutch stays, made as part of Ksenia's art project The Power of NO. Moving the lacing to the front left the back free to speak: it carries the face of Medusa, her rope-like hair twisting into a single word, NO. A garment once designed for restraint becomes a site of refusal.
Ksenia embroiders the back by hand in tambour and padding techniques, in cotton, metallic and synthetic threads, over three to four weeks of dedicated handwork. The corset is constructed in black taffeta, lined in silver metallic taffeta, with lightweight plastic boning for structure.
It is a two-piece design, corset body and detachable front panel, with front lacing, in size EU 36 (UK 8 / US 4). No replicas will ever be made. It can be worn, styled for editorial work, or displayed as the artwork it is.

Ksenia Semirova makes hummingbirds from silk and sequins, and wedding veils embroidered straight onto the finished cloth. She works with a tambour hook in Hove, and she will either make you a piece or teach you to make your own.
