This is one of Joshua's larger landscapes, and the format earns its scale. The view is from inside Richmond Park toward the long horizon, with Windsor sitting in the distance as a smudge of architecture rather than a careful study. Expansive fields, deer moving freely across the middle ground, an English sky with weather rather than postcard blue. Joshua paints this kind of view the way the eighteenth century landscape painters did, building rich layers of brush marks rather than chasing a single confident statement. The result is a landscape that looks honestly observed: the trees a bit messy, the deer caught in passing rather than posed, the air thick with the time of year. Hand painted en plein air. Oil on canvas, approximately 40cm by 50cm, signed by hand. Made with traditional techniques designed to last a lifetime.

Joshua paints British rivers in oil, the Thames mostly, with a few weeks each year on the Solway coast. The light he chases is the light Constable chased: dusk along Pen Ponds, morning on the towpath, the moment the tide turns at Teddington Lock.
