The timber for this vase has come from storm felled timber which Andy processed in his workshop, the base is turned from a piece of sycamore , this has been shaped and hollowed on the lathe. The neck is turned from a piece of Oak turned between centers and then added to base.
Once glued together Andy refines the shape of the vase and adds beads to the base to add some texture and to hide the join. This piece has been finished with Microcrystalline wax and then buffed.

Andy and Bee Matthews are a husband and wife who make together. He turns the timber; she burns and paints into it. Everything starts as a storm-felled or diseased tree from a sawmill ten minutes from their door.
