This form has been turned from a piece of a branch from a Sycamore tree (Acer pseudoplatanus) that came down in last year's winter storms. Andy processed the branch in his workshop and left it to season slowly over the past 12 months.
This has been turned and hollowed by Andy, hollowing into the end grain showcases the timber's growth rings and you can see the pith of the branch in the very bottom of the form. Sanded to 400 grit and then finished with a microcrystalline wax this is a tactile piece which is just a happy being handled as being displayed in your home

Andy and Bee Matthews are a husband and wife who make together. He turns the timber; she burns and paints into it. Everything starts as a storm-felled or diseased tree from a sawmill ten minutes from their door.
